International Leader Irina Bokova Officially Serves as Honorary Presidents of WOAC
The World Olymp’Arts Council (WOAC) officially announces that Ms. Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO, has been engaged to serve as Honorary President of WOAC.

To further consolidate its international brand heritage, enhance global credibility and industry influence, and facilitate the high-quality development of global art exchanges, cultural communication and international public welfare undertakings, the World Olymp’Arts Council (WOAC) officially announces that Ms. Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO, has been engaged to serve as Honorary President of WOAC.


Ms. Irina Bokova is a benchmark leader in the global fields of culture, education, diplomacy and sustainable development, possessing decades of extensive experience in top-tier international organization governance and multilateral diplomacy. Her significant appointment marks a vital milestone in the internationalization process of WOAC, providing strong authoritative endorsement and strategic support for the institution to deepen its engagement in the global art and cultural industry, connect premium international resources, and practice sustainable development philosophies.


In the realm of national governance and diplomacy, Ms. Bokova has served as a Member of the Bulgarian National Assembly and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. She has deeply participated in the formulation of national foreign policies and the administration of public affairs, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in macro-level decision-making and overall planning. With long-term front-line experience in overseas diplomatic missions, she has successively served as Bulgaria’s Ambassador to France and Monaco, as well as Ambassador to UNESCO. Familiar with the operational system of global multilateral organizations, she has accumulated profound international diplomatic resources and rich experience in transnational cooperation.


From 2009 to 2017, Ms. Bokova served two consecutive terms as Director-General of UNESCO, making history as the first female Director-General since the foundation of the organization and establishing herself as an outstanding benchmark for global female leadership. During her eight-year tenure, she focused on advancing global education equity, safeguarding world cultural heritage, and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among diverse civilizations. She actively propelled the coordinated development of global cultural and educational undertakings, vigorously promoted the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and delivered irreplaceable and significant contributions to the advancement of global public welfare.


After concluding her tenure at the core position of UNESCO, Ms. Bokova has continued to be actively engaged in global academic research, public diplomacy, sustainable development and other key fields, consistently exerting her global leading influence. Committed to empowering global female development and building high-end international dialogue platforms, she focuses on core issues including cultural exchange, educational innovation and ecological development. She continuously promotes global cooperation and the popularization and implementation of SDG sustainable development and ESG governance concepts, constituting an indispensable and pivotal force in global public governance.
