Wu Weishan, male, Han nationality, born in January 1962. He is an internationally influential sculpture artist, Director of the National Art Museum of China, Dean of the Sculpture Institute of  the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice President of the China Artists Association, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, Director of the Cultural Working Committee, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Deputy Director of the National Urban Sculpture Construction Steering Committee and Director of the Art Committee. He is the recipient of the Gold Medal of the 2012 Louvre International Art Exhibition, the Royal Pangolin Award, the first Chinese Arts and Culture Award, and the New China Urban Sculpture Construction Achievement Award. He is an honorary academician of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an honorary doctor of philosophy of Inje University in Korea. In 2018, he was elected as a Corresponding Member of the French Academy of Arts, becoming the second Chinese artist to be elected as a Corresponding Member of the Academy after the famous painter Wu Guanzhong. For more than twenty years, Professor Wu Weishan has been dedicated to excavating and studying Chinese traditional culture as his life's proposition, and has devoted himself to the integration and expression of the spirit of Chinese culture in Chinese sculpture creation, creating a large number of historical figures sculptures, which are known as "statue makers for the times". His works have been distributed to more than twenty countries and regions, and are permanently collected in the China Art Museum and important museums in Europe and America.

Professor Wu Weishan pioneered the style of modern Chinese realistic sculpture and proposed the "Theory of Realistic Sculpture" and the "Eight Styles of Chinese Sculpture". This is not only a summary of the excellent tradition of Chinese sculpture, but also a great guide to the development of Chinese sculpture at present.
